Detailed Instructions For Using Station Locator

The Station Locator can search our database of refueling stations for the entire country to find alternative fuel stations offering the following fuels: compressed natural gas (CNG), liquified petroleum gas (LPG/propane), 85% ethanol (E85), electric, biodiesel, hydrogen and liquified natural gas (LNG). The results are displayed in a map with details for each station listed below the map. To begin your search, follow these steps:

A map that shows the refueling station locations as red triangles will appear with a circle showing the radius search area you indicated. If you zoom in on the map, the radius circle will disappear and the stations will be labeled with the corresponding ID in the table below the map.

If you receive a "No locations found" message, click "Back" and change your search parameters. Small towns may not be part of the Streetmap data used by the application. Also, new streets may not be included in the data. For these reasons, the city search is the default, and the radius can be used to increase or decrease the number of stations returned in the search.

The center of the map will be the center of the address, city, or state you indicated in your search. If you search by state, the radius parameter is not used. The map will automatically stretch to the extent of all stations in the state.

NOTE:   You should always call any station you plan to visit in advance to verify its location and hours of operation. Some stations in our database have addresses that could not be located by the Station Locator application. Those stations are displayed in the center of the zip code area of the station. This may result in the station appearing in the wrong location on the map. So always call the station in advance if it doesn't appear to be in the correct location.

Beneath the map is contact information for all stations noted on the map. For a printer-friendly version of the list, click Print Table. You may need to adjust your printer options to fit the entire table on the page.

If you entered an Address as your search type, the details below the map will include a Route option next to each station. You may click on Route to map a route from your starting address to that station. The Route option is available with the Address search only.

Click the Zoom Zoom icon button in the table of stations to zoom in on the station's location. The Type of Access column indicates if the station is public or private.

Click the Identify tool Identify tool icon button in the map frame, then click a station red triangle, to display a table of details for the station. There are other icons in the map frame and information tables. To learn what they represent, click Help Help icon or run your mouse over them for a brief description.
